Drivers warned about closed, icy roads in Armenia

The Rescue Service has warned drivers about closed roads and difficult driving conditions in Armenia on Saturday morning.

In particular, the road linking the Amberd high mountain meteorological station to Lake Kari in Aragatsotn Province is shut down.

The Spitak and Stepanavan serpentines are closed to trailer trucks.

Drivers are warned to watch out for black ice on roads in the highlands of Syunik Province, Gegharkunik Province, as well as in the Artik, Talin, Aragats, Aparan, Garni, Ashotsk regions and the Tigranashen bends.

Fog is observed in the Armavir and Ararat regions.

According to the Department of Emergency Situations of Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Crisis Management Center (CMC) of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Larsi highway connecting Armenia and Russia via Georgia is closed to all vehicles.
