Expert: No concessions from Armenia help stop Azerbaijan
Varuzhan Geghamyan, a geopolitical strategist and regional security expert, has warned of a risk of new Azerbaijani attack on Armenia amid a surge in Baku’s arms imports.
In a social media post on Monday, the expert cited reporter David Galstyan’s study revealing that Azerbaijan has doubled arms purchases and shipments to the country in recent weeks.
“This heralds a possible military offensive. Moreover, it shows that military pressure remains the main tool of Azerbaijan’s military and political leadership in its all-out war against Armenia," he wrote.
“This confirms that no “peace talks” change Azerbaijan's position and no concessions satisfy and deter the country,” Geghamyan said, stating that Yerevan’s concessions and appeasement policy fuel further pressure from Baku.
“In the near future, Armenia's current foreign and security policy will lead to a deeper crisis. The alternative is negotiations on a new military and political alliance with the regional countries,” he added.
