Hakob Aslanyan expelled from Armenia's ruling party
Armenia's ruling Civil Contract party has expelled MP Hakob Aslanyan, citing a “serious disciplinary violation”.
The decision was made at a board meeting of the party chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan late on Tuesday.
Earlier on December 11, Aslanyan announced suspension of his party membership for one month, expressing support for former Civil Contract MP Hovik Aghazaryan who was accused of leaking classified information to media outlets and expelled from the ruling party in November.
Just a few hours later, Aslanyan posted a statement on Facebook calling his comments “wrong and emotional” and saying that he would remain a Civil Contract party member.
