Prosecutor's Office denies plans to strip MP Hovik Aghazaryan of immunity
Armenian Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan has no plans to ask the National Assembly to strip MP Hovik Aghazaryan of immunity, her office said.
“No such issue is under discussion currently,” the Prosecutor’s Office told Panorama.am on Tuesday.
Aghazaryan’s lawyer, Hakob Charoyan, told the media earlier that the chief prosecutor could ask lawmakers to strip his client of parliamentary immunity in January.
He may next face detention or house arrest.
Aghazaryan was expelled from the ruling Civil Contract party for disclosing "state secrets" in early December.
