Opposition MP: Pashinyan preparing to fulfil more Azerbaijani demands
Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a senior member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) and an opposition Hayastan faction MP, accused Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of preparing to fulfil more demands listed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
In a social media post on Wednesday, Saghatelyan claimed that Pashinyan sought to shift the responsibility for Artsakh’s (Nagorno-Karabakh) surrender to Azerbaijan to the former Armenian presidents to justify more concessions to Azerbaijan.
Pashinyan stated on Monday that all peace plans drafted by the mediators from 1994 onwards focused on “the return of Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan”. He said that his “big mistake” was not to make it clear to the Armenian people after coming to power in 2018. Later, Pashinyan invited the former leaders to a live debate on the matter, but the latter rejected the proposal.
“This marks the start of a campaign to meet Aliyev's latest demands, including the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, the surrender of new territories under the guise of border delimitation and demarcation and the resettlement of Azerbaijanis in Armenia,” the deputy wrote on Facebook.
Saghatelyan cautioned politicians and experts against "falling into Pashinyan’s trap and getting caught up in the false agenda he is pushing.”
