Armenian State Symphony Orchestra to perform on tour in China
From December 28 to January 2, the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra will embark on a tour in China, led by its Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, Sergey Smbatyan. The orchestra will perform six concerts in five cities, including Beijing, Ürümqi, Xi’an, Nantong, and Chengdu. The program will feature iconic works by Armenian, Russian, and European classical composers, organizers said.
“Our New Year tours in China have become a nice tradition,” says Sargis Balbabyan, the orchestra’s director. “This year’s program includes works by Armenian composers alongside European and Russian classics. Many of these pieces will be performed for the first time in some of the concert halls. The fact that tickets for many concerts are already sold out is a significant milestone for our orchestra.”
As a frequent guest in China, the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra aims to popularize classical music while showcasing the richness of Armenian compositional and performance art.
