Armenia's Shant Sargsyan among leaders at World Rapid Championship
The first game day of the World Rapid Chess Championship has ended.
After 5 rounds, GM Shant Sargsyan has scored 4.5 points and shares the first place with GM Volodar Murzin, GM Leinier Dominguez and GM Daniel Naroditsky, the Armenian Chess Federation reports.
In the 3rd and 4th rounds, Shant defeated GM Vasily Ivanchuk and GM Anish Giri, respectively.
GM Tigran Petrosian and GM Karen Grigoryan have 3.5 points, GM Zaven Andriasian and GM Haik Martirosyan have 3 points, GM Emin Ohanyan has 2.5 points, GM Aram Hakobyan and GM Robert Hovhannisyan have 2 points.
In the Women's Championship, GM Elina Danielian and IM Anna Sargsyan have 2 points out of 4, while WIM Mariam Mkrtchyan has collected 1.5 points.
The next round starts on December 27 at 11 p.m. Yerevan time.
