MP's comments confirm Pashinyan lying about Artsakh negotiations, expert says
Political analyst Suren Surenyants has again accused Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of lying about the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) negotiation process, citing recent statements made by pro-government MP Arman Yeghoyan, a member of his Civil Contract party.
In an interview with RFE/RL's Armenian Service, Yeghoyan said that a plan proposed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement was on the table in 2019.
“The plan was not an initiative of Lavrov or Russia alone, but rather a consolidated document backed by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs,” the expert wrote on Facebook on Saturday.
“Yeghoyan effectively confirms that Pashinyan is a liar, because the latter claimed that no settlement plans were on the table back in 2019 and 2020. Thus, he misled the public and pursued an adventurous policy that ultimately led to war,” Surenyants said, calling for the disclose of all peace plans drafted by the international mediators.
