Activist slams ongoing detention of ARF member Gagik Sargsyan
Human rights activist Avetik Ishkhanyan has denounced the ongoing “disgraceful” detention of Gagik Sargsyan, a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF).
Sargsyan was arrested for allegedly attempting bomb attacks against MPs from Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party in March this year.
“This is a disgrace,” Ishkhanyan wrote on Facebook on Monday.
“Anyone who knows Gagik Sargsyan recognizes him as a remarkably honest person. If he had truly committed the so-called “crime”, I am confident he would have openly declared, “Yes, I did it and I stand by it.” It's a shame for all of us that Gagik Sargsyan remains in custody,” he added.
