Six candidates vying for head of Armenia's Parakar
Six candidates are running for head of Armenia’s enlarged Parakar community in primary elections held by the ruling Civil Contract party.
The party confirmed Arpine Arakelyan, Lyudvig Gyulnazaryan, Karen Yeremyan, Mher Harutyunyan, Arman Mnatsakanyan and Gor Saribekyan as candidates for the post at a board meeting on Friday, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced.
The candidate securing the most votes at the primaries scheduled for 11-13 January will be appointed the new Parakar community head.
Lyudvig Gyulnazaryan stepped down as Parakar head on 18 November 2024.
Civil Contract held primaries for the first time in Armenia’s second largest city of Gyumri in December last year.
