Armenian MP warns of 'turbulent developments reshaping the geopolitical landscape'
Armenian opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan has warned of new “turbulent developments” that could significantly change the geopolitical landscape in the near future.
“Some claim that the new U.S. president seeks to resolve or freeze the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, but this is not motivated by a genuine desire to improve relations with Russia or ease Ukraine's suffering. Instead, the U.S. is likely to focus its resources on containing China," he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
The Pativ Unem faction secretary pointed out that while the ongoing war in Ukraine continues to drain diplomatic, economic and military resources – not only from the countries directly involved in it, but also from the EU and the U.S. – China is rapidly advancing on the global stage.
"Naturally, the West will continue efforts to prevent Russia from recovering quickly, putting it at the core of the Ukrainian crisis “settlement”. However, the real concern is China. Beijing has outpaced the West, asserting big political ambitions as it seeks to redefine its role in the shifting global order. This growing influence inevitably comes at the expense of other global actors,” Abrahamyan stated.
"In the foreseeable future, we can expect turbulent developments that will reshape the geopolitical landscape,” he concluded.
