Yeghishe Charents' book sent into space on museum anniversary
The 60th anniversary of the founding and the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Yeghishe Charents House-Museum in Yerevan have been celebrated in space.
To mark this special occasion, through the mediation of St. Petersburg-based benefactor Hrachya Poghosyan, a copy of the book “My Sweet Armenia” – translated into 35 languages and published by the Charents family – was sent into space from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, the museum reported on Friday.
"It is symbolic that the museum anniversary is being “cosmicized” through the unity of Charents’ words and Sarian’s colors," it said in a statement.
On 10 January 1975, the museum opened its doors to visitors for the first time.
