Pashinyan considers appealing to OSCE over Minsk Group dissolution
Armenia is mulling an appeal to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to dissolve its Minsk Group on Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's spokesperson, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, reported on Saturday.
"The Republic of Armenia is considering the possibility of appealing to the OSCE regarding the dissolution of the Minsk Group," she said in a statement.
In an interview to Armenpress in December last year, Pashinyan backed the idea to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group.
"We understand the position that if there is no conflict, what is the point of the existence of a format dealing with conflict resolution. But we also want to ensure that Azerbaijan approaches the issue with the same logic, and its intention is not, for example, to implement an aggressive policy towards the territory of the Republic of Armenia by promoting the so-called “Western Azerbaijan” discourse," he remarked.
"In a Facebook post on January 8, 2025, Prime Minister Pashinyan emphasized that there is no and cannot be Western Azerbaijan on the territory of the Republic of Armenia and stressed the necessity for Azerbaijan to abandon this discourse that calls into question the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia and to establish peace," the spokesperson said.
"The Republic of Armenia unequivocally and unambiguously recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and is ready to reaffirm this by signing the peace treaty, as well as by implementing all other initiatives and steps mentioned in the above-mentioned post. It is important that Azerbaijan also unequivocally and unambiguously recognizes the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia," the statement added.
