Opposition MP: Armenian leadership made 3rd concession amid Baku's fresh threats
The Armenian authorities made a third concession to Baku amid fresh threats by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, opposition Pativ Unem faction MP Tigran Abrahamyan says.
“After agreeing to disband the OSCE Minsk Group and amend Armenia’s constitution, the Pashinyan government has now compromised on border delimitation,” Abrahamyan wrote on Facebook on Friday.
He criticized the decision to start the border delimitation and demarcation process in Tavush Province in line with Azerbaijan’s demands instead of prioritizing Armenia's border areas occupied by Azerbaijani troops in 2021-2023.
“Starting the border delimitation in Tavush is vital for Baku as the Armenian authorities previously recognized the so-called enclaves of Verin Voskepar, Sofulu and Barkhudarlu as part of Azerbaijan. The surrender of these villages would disrupt internal communications within Tavush and threaten the Tavush-Bagratashen highway running to the Georgian border, as well as the gas pipeline from Georgia.
“Additionally, control over a section of the Ijevan-Berd road by Azerbaijan would create another major obstacle. According to the border regulations, If Azerbaijan halts negotiations after forcing delimitation in Tavush, the agreed changes become irreversible as there will be no return to the starting point,” the MP stated.
