Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II issued a congratulatory message on the occasion of Army Day celebrated on January 28.

“The Armenian army's role in the sacred defense of our newly independent statehood and the rights of the Armenian people are beyond measure. Today, as our country is facing major security challenges, the further strengthening of the Armenian army is crucial to ensure that our soldiers continue their sacred mission of defending the homeland with unwavering resolve and high combat readiness,” he said.

“Love and devotion to the homeland, as well as adherence to national values, have always been and will remain the cornerstone of our soldiers’ valiant service and feats.

“We pray for the repose of the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives defending the homeland. May the Almighty God protect the servicemen and commanders of the Armenian army and grant security and prosperity to our homeland and our people across the globe,” reads the message.
