Yerevan Municipality officials arrested for bribery
Around eight current and former officials of the Yerevan Municipality have been arrested as part of an ongoing criminal probe conducted by the Armenian Anti-Corruption Committee.
While the committee has not yet released any details, Panorama.am has revealed that the arrests are related to a bribery investigation.
On Thursday, the Anti-Corruption Committee is expected to submit motions to the court requesting measures of restraint for the detainees.
Citing its sources, the Zhoghovurd daily has identified the arrested officials, who include Robert Darbinyan, former head of the Department of Urban Planning and Land Control, Mikayel Ghimoyan, head of the second territorial division of the same department, Aram Gyulzadyan, head of the Public Order Protection Service, and Aram Ayvazyan, former deputy head of the Department of Urban Planning and Land Control at the Yerevan Municipality.
