Iran considers the establishment of a lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus as its key commitment, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani has said.

At a press conference on Thursday, he reiterated Iran’s strong opposition to any changes in international borders, geopolitical shifts and the use of force to resolve regional issues, emphasizing Iran's unwavering support for the territorial integrity of countries, particularly Armenia.

"The creation of false narratives, threats, doubts and videos cannot undermine the strong relations between the two countries or sow division and suspicion," Sobhani stressed.

The ambassador highlighted that this year marks the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Iran and Armenia.

"Our relations are anchored on mutual respect, trust, peaceful coexistence and a spirit of hope and support for each other," he remarked. "Iran views Armenia and the Armenian people as close friends. Over the past decades, Iran consistently supported Armenia's growth and strengthening. Over time, the relations between the two countries have matured and become more profound, marked by mutual understanding."
