Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani commented on the strategic partnership agreement signed between Armenia and the United States in January.

“This document is weaker than the one signed under the previous government in Armenia. Naturally, we have always managed to keep the relations between Iran and Armenia unaffected by the maximum pressure exerted by the U.S.,” he told reporters on Thursday.

“There is mutual understanding between the Armenian and Iranian authorities on the matter, and we fully realize that our relations are guided by the interests of both countries and peoples.

“When it comes to the Armenia-U.S. strategic partnership agreement, the Armenian authorities have assured us that it does not harm Armenian-Iranian relations. They have emphasized that they will not take any actions that could jeopardize bilateral ties or Iran’s interests,” the diplomat stated.
