ZCMC promises pay rise and better working conditions ahead of protest
The Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine (ZCMC) issued a statement promising a salary increase and better working conditions demanded by its employees ahead of a protest on Monday. The full statement is provided below.
“The ZCMC management, acting as a guarantor for its employees, assumes the corresponding obligations and issues the following statement to confirm that the promised changes will be carried out within the set timeframes.
Compensation Policy
In September 2024, we began developing a new salary revision strategy that factors in work experience and employee qualifications. As a result of the ongoing process, the total salary fund will increase by an average of 20%. The new compensation system will be rolled out at the main production plants within one month following the resumption of operations.
Medical Insurance
In response to numerous written and verbal complaints about the current medical insurance, the ZCMC will announce an open tender on February 17 to select a new insurance provider that will deliver high-quality services tailored to the needs of employees.
Improvement of Working Conditions
In recent years, the ZCMC has conducted technical audits of its existing systems and projects. The audit was completed in December 2024, and the process of designing and procuring new systems has already begun. We guarantee that modern, highly efficient ventilation and purification systems will be installed at the main production facilities no later than by the end of 2025.
Dear employees, we urge you to return to work. Together, we can achieve these goals and resolve the problems.
The ZCMC is a united team and our shared goal is to ensure the effective operations of the combine for the well-being of employees, the development of the region and the prosperity of Armenia.”
