Armenian priest injured in church explosion on the mend
Father Gevorg Ter-Barseghyan, who was injured in an explosion at the Holy Mother of God Church in Martuni, Armenia, has been moved from the intensive care unit to a ward. His health is showing signs of improvement, Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Director of the National Center for Burns and Dermatology, told Panorama.am on Monday.
The explosion took place at the parish house adjacent to the church on Saturday, damaging its front door and window. Fr. Gevorg, the church priest, was injured in the blast and was initially taken to the Martuni Medical Center.
“The burns cover a large surface area, but they are not deep and we’ve recorded positive dynamics. He has been moved to a ward and continues his treatment,” Hovhannisyan said, adding the duration of the recovery process remains uncertain.
"Father Gevorg's life is out of danger. We hope that nothing extraordinary will happen," the specialist added.
