
Investigative Committee reports increase in military-related probes
In 2024, the General Military Investigative Department of Armenia's Investigative Committee received 3,814 reports on alleged crimes (3,554 in 2023), leading to 3,591 criminal proceedings (3,215 in 2023), the law enforcement agency reported.
A total of 19,971 cases were investigated (19,836 in 2023), with 15,635 carried over from the previous year. Preliminary investigations were completed for 3,640 cases (18.2%), up from 3,146 (15.9%) in 2023. Indictments were issued in 904 cases involving 1,012 individuals (981 cases involving 1,185 individuals in 2023).
Deputy Investigative Committee Chairman Arman Aslanyan attributed the increase to the rise in reports and initiated cases.
