Producer says won't use Hayat Project resources in Gyumri election race
Producer Ruben Mkhitaryan has denied any plans to use the public resources of Hayat Project, a band founded by him, while campaigning for the upcoming municipal elections in Gyumri.
Hayat Project, famous for its distinct use of the Gyumri dialect, will soon hold a concert in the city, expected to attract thousands of people. However, Mkhitaryan was quick to clarify that the concert would not be part of his election campaign.
"I firmly state that I have no intention of using the public resources of the Hayat Project team in the election campaign," the producer said in an interview with Irakanum on Tuesday.
Earlier, Ruben Mkhitaryan announced a run for mayor of Gyumri, Armenia’s second largest city, in the elections scheduled for March 30.
Mkhitaryan also called on his fellow celebrities, who are familiar with his political views, to refrain from participating in the election campaign of the ruling Civil Contract party.
"Believe me, this one-time fee will not make a difference. I know how much you earn. But if anyone still decides to participate in the election campaign of the ruling party and support it, I will consider them ideological supporters of Civil Contract. After that, they must be prepared to bear the full weight of criticism, just as these people do. Don’t do it! It’s not worth it," Mkhitaryan warned.
In response to rumors that certain singers might perform at Civil Contract’s election rallies, Mkhitaryan made it clear that Hayat Project’s platform would not be used for such purposes. "After the song ‘I Am Your Artsakh, You Are My Armenia,’ Hayat Project has become a pan-Armenian project. It belongs to everyone. It is not a business venture," he emphasized.
