Misappropriation at ANIF also uncovered by State Property Management Committee
At least three criminal cases have been initiated over corruption-related abuses at the Armenian National Interests Fund (ANIF), two of which are linked to Tigran Avinyan’s tenure as Chairman of ANIF’s Board of Directors, Pastinfo reported.
One case stems from a Corruption Prevention Commission (CPC) investigation into Avinyan’s conflict of interests, as he simultaneously held government positions while leading ANIF (2019–2023). Another was launched in January 2024 after the State Control Service reported irregularities. A third case emerged in fall 2024 following a government decision to dissolve ANIF, with findings from the State Property Management Committee prompting further investigation.
The cases involve large-scale embezzlement, abuse of office and financial losses. While investigations are ongoing, no one has been charged yet. Notably, Avinyan’s term ended in September 2023, meaning the reported violations occurred under his leadership.
