Azerbaijan has not provided any comments to ICRC on Armenian citizen's death
The Azerbaijani side has not provided any comments to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on the death of the Armenian citizen Manvel Saribekyan yet, the head of the State Commission on War Prisoners, Hostages and Missing Persons, Armen Kaprielyan, told Panorama.am.
“Azerbaijani side hadn’t handed Manvel Saribekyan’s death certificate to the ICRC as of 3.30 pm local time,” he said.
Remind that the Azerbaijani side had spread a statement on the death of the Armenian citizen Manvel Saribekyan, qualifying it as a suicide. Armenian Defense Ministry followed with a statement, which said: “The Armenian Defense Ministry has no grounds to believe in the authenticity of the version of the Armenian captive’s death and expressed its concern over it. The Ministry holds the Azerbaijani authorities responsible for the tragic death of Manvel Saribekyan. We call on the international agencies, particularly, the International Committee of the Red Cross to draw attention to the fact that Azerbaijan once again blatantly violates the international humanitarian norms, particularly, the Convention on treatment of war prisoners, ignores the OSCE Minsk Group efforts to resolve the Karabakh conflict peacefully on the days when the OSCE MG co-Chairs are implementing an assessment mission.”
