No resolution on Aghdam events of February 1992 passed by Mexico's Senate
Azerbaijan’s MFA has spread its next misinformation on the “success of the Azerbaijani diplomacy.” According to Azerbaijani media, Mexico's Senate allegedly has passed a resolution “recognizing the Khojaly tragedy as genocide.” More, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesman Elman Abdullayev told Turan that “Azerbaijan is satisfied with this resolution” and allegedly “for the first time the Khojaly genocide has been legislatively recognized by a foreign parliament.”
However, in response to Panorama.am’s inquiry, Mexico’s Senate said it had not passed any such resolution. The Senate’s answer exposed another falsification of the Azerbaijani propaganda. According to Mexico’s Senate, the last two paragraphs of a Senate committee’s viewpoint on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict were read on November 4 in the Senate.
The first paragraph calls on Armenia and Azerbaijan to continue peace talks and expresses support for the OSCE Minsk Group activities. The second paragraph mentions the Khojaly events, described as “massacres.” The word “genocide” is not mentioned in that document.
