Tert.am website was hacked: Azerbaijani media spreads disinformation about casualties of Armenian side
On Saturday, August 2, the Armenian Tert.am news site was hacked. According editorial, the hackers put in the Russian version of the site a statement which said: "Because of the treacherous attack of the enemy, the National Army of Artsakh suffered irreplaceable losses - 20 killed, 26 wounded." This has been a disinformation.
Due to the efforts of specialists normal operation of the site was promptly restored.
However, the Azerbaijani media advantage of the situation and tried to legalize the disinformation citing the Tert.am. Once fraud was exposed, the site of the Azerbaijani news agency "APA", tried to justify the failure in more ridiculous way, stating that "the Armenian authorities had forced to refute the information about the 20 dead and 26 wounded."
Other Azerbaijani sites, for example, day.az and minval.az, did not even try to publish refutation of the Armenian site Tert.am, still trying to legalize the disinformation among the Azerbaijani audience.
At the same time the Azerbaijani sites did not explain why the press release, allegedly taken from the site of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, despite its practice, was only in Russian and sent only to the editorial of this very site. Also the faked article looks vary shoddy, if you look at the screenshots posted in the Azerbaijani media you will see that the news link has completely different tag.
The hackers also made a mistake by putting the photo of the press secretary of the Defense Army of Nagorno Karabakh Republic next to the nonexistent "release" from the Defense Ministry of Armenia.
