Pope Francis to visit Armenia next year
Pope Francis will pay a visit to Armenia next year, Italian news outlet Corriere quotidiano reports quoting the Armenian President.
The news outlet reports that on Sunday in the Vatican Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan will attend the Mass Pope Francis will celebrate to commemorate the Armenian Genocide centenary. It notes that Turkey’s Ambassador will not attend the Mass.
“I am convinced that one day Turkey will recognize the Armenian Genocide,” Corriere quotidiano quotes President Sargsyan as saying.
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, who is in Italy on an official visit, on Sunday will attend the Mass which Pope Francis will celebrate at St. Peter's Basilica. The Mass will begin at 11:55am Yerevan time and will be broadcast also on the territory of Armenia.
