Putin arrives in Yerevan to participate in Genocide centenary events
Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Armenia Thursday evening to participate in the events marking the centenary of the Armenian Genocide. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and other top officials met the Putin-led delegation at the Yerevan airport.
Vladimir Putin was the first post-Soviet leader who visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial in 2001.
“Russia has always perceived this tragedy of the Armenian people as its own. We bow before the memory of the victims of Armenian Genocide,” Putin wrote in the Armenian Genocide Commemoration Book.
