The 29-year-old Egypt forward has scored 137 goals in 214 games for the Reds since a £34m move from Roma in 2017, including 12 goals this season. Russian and Chinese warships held their first joint patrols in the Western part of the Pacific ocean on October 17-23, Russia's defence ministry said in a statement on Saturday. Moscow and Beijing, which staged naval cooperation drills in the Sea of Japan earlier in October, have cultivated closer military and diplomatic ties in recent years at a time when their relations with the West have soured.

Peter Scolari, a veteran actor who rose to fame alongside Tom Hanks on "Bosom Buddies," died Friday morning. Scolari had cancer and had been ill for two years, his manager Ellen Lubin Sanitsky told CNN. He was 66.
The US says more than 1.7 million migrants were detained along its border with Mexico in the past 12 months - the highest number ever recorded. More than one million of them were expelled to Mexico or their native countries, according to data from US Customs and Border Protection. Agents apprehended people from more than 160 countries.

A U.S. appeals court on Friday rejected Halkbank's (HALKB.IS) bid to dismiss an indictment accusing the state-owned Turkish lender of helping Iran evade American sanctions. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said even if the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act shielded the bank, the charge against Halkbank falls under the commercial activity exception. Prosecutors accused Halkbank of converting oil revenue into gold and then cash to benefit Iranian interests and documenting fake food shipments to justify transfers of oil proceeds.

Mosaic flooring was found in an Israeli biblical city that experts say was inside the lost Church of the Apostles. Dating back some 1,500 years, the flooring includes two inscriptions written in ancient Greek. The text mentions a deacon and a building project, along with a half medallion and words of the bishop. The Church of the Apostles is said to have been atop of the home of Jesus' apostles Peter and Andrew.

"The Scream", arguably the most iconic image in art, is the centrepiece of a new museum dedicated to its creator Edvard Munch that opens in Oslo on Friday, but visitors won't know which of its many versions they will see until they arrive. The figure holding its head in a swirling red sunset was inspired by a stay in Berlin in 1892 when the Norwegian, then aged 28, was a leading light of the Symbolist movement.

The French government has announced a one-off payment of €100 (£84; $116) for each citizen whose monthly net income is €2,000 or less, to help counter the surge in fuel and energy prices. The "inflation allowance" will go to about 38 million French people automatically, including those who do not drive a car or ride a motorbike. The first payments will go to business employees in late December. Civil servants, students and pensioners will get theirs in early 2022.

The Queen spent Wednesday night in hospital after cancelling a visit to Northern Ireland, Buckingham Palace has said. A spokesman said she was admitted for "preliminary investigations" - but returned to Windsor Castle at lunchtime on Thursday and "remains in good spirits". The 95-year-old monarch was treated at the private King Edward VII Hospital in central London, in what was her first overnight hospital stay in eight years.

Renowned Dutch conductor Bernard Haitink has died at his home in London aged 92. He led the world's top orchestras in London, Amsterdam, Chicago and Dresden, in a career spanning 65 years. Born in Amsterdam in 1929, Haitink won many awards and was a major figure in the UK's classical music scene.

The attackers randomly shot some victims and stabbed others with knives at the Balukhali refugee complex in Cox's Bazar near the border with Myanmar, a regional police chief said. The killings came as tensions mount in the camps that house more than 900,000 refugees from Myanmar, after a Rohingya activist was shot dead outside his office three weeks ago.

Pakistan’s foreign minister has visited Afghanistan for the first time since the Taliban takeover in August, amid continuing tensions about transport links between the neighbouring countries. Shah Mahmood Qureshi travelled to Kabul on Thursday to discuss the situation at the Chaman border crossing, one of the main trade transit points between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The crossing has been closed for more than two weeks, causing severe problems for truckers and exporters.

Ai-Da is due to open and present her work at the Great Pyramid of Giza on Thursday, the first time contemporary art has been allowed next to the pyramid in thousands of years. But because of “security issues” that may include concerns that she is part of a wider espionage plot, both Ai-Da and her sculpture were held in Egyptian customs for 10 days before being released on Wednesday, sparking a diplomatic fracas.

A private, anonymous U.S. collector bought the fossilised remains of 'Big John', the largest triceratops dinosaur ever discovered by paleontologists, for 6.65 million euros ($7.74 million) at a Paris auction on Thursday. Big John - named after the owner of the land where the dinosaur's bones were found - roamed modern-day South Dakota more than 66 million years ago.
