Milne and was depicted in his much-loved children's stories about the honey-loving bear is being sold at auction on Wednesday, with a price estimate of up to around $80,000. Originally known as Posingford Bridge, it was built in 1907 in Ashdown Forest, in southern England, as a river crossing.

German prosecutors have opened an investigation into employees at a hotel after a musician made accusations of antisemitism against them in a video posted on social media. The singer Gil Ofarim said in an emotional video published on Tuesday that two employees at the Westin hotel in Leipzig, in eastern Germany, had asked him to “put away” a Star of David pendant before he would be allowed to check in.

Authorities arrested an 18-year-old male in connection with a Texas high school shooting that left four people injured after a fight broke out in a classroom on Wednesday morning, police said. The suspect, who fled the Timberview High School in Arlington, after the shooting, was taken into custody after a brief manhunt and will be charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

A New Jersey man who used dating apps to lure and kill three women five years ago was sentenced Wednesday to 160 years in prison after a trial in which it was revealed that friends of one victim did their own detective work on social media to ferret out the suspect. Khalil Wheeler-Weaver, 25, sat motionless as the judge gave the sentence in state court in Newark.

Ecologists said Wednesday they had submitted a formal complaint to the EU over Spain's "continued failure" to protect the Mar Menor, one of Europe's largest saltwater lagoons, against agricultural pollution. In a statement outlining details of the complaint, ClientEarth and Spain's Ecologists in Action urge the European Commission to take "immediate action against Spain" as harmful agricultural practices were pushing the lagoon "to the brink of ecological collapse".

Swedish health authorities on Wednesday suspended the use of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine for those ages 30 and under, saying the move was done out of precaution. The reason for the pausing is “signals of an increased risk of side effects such as inflammation of the heart muscle or the pericardium” — the double-walled sac containing the heart and the roots of the main vessels, Sweden’s Public Health Agency said in a statement.

Tina Turner sold the rights to her music catalogue, including hits like The Best and Nutbush City Limits, to music publishing company BMG. The deal also sees BMG acquire the rights to Turner's name, image, and likeness for future sponsorship and merchandising deals. Howard University and Netflix on Monday announced the creation of a new $5.4m scholarship honoring the late actor and alumnus of the institution, Chadwick Boseman. The Chadwick A Boseman Memorial Scholarship will provide incoming students in the College of Fine Arts, which was renamed after the actor last month, with a four-year scholarship to cover the full cost of university tuition.

US President Joe Biden says he and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping have agreed to abide by the "Taiwan agreement". Mr Biden appeared to be referring to Washington's longstanding "one China" policy under which it recognises China rather than Taiwan.
