Oliver Glasner was hired to coach Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday, less than two weeks after his Wolfsburg team secured a place in the Champions League. Wolfsburg finished in fourth place in the Bundesliga, one spot above Frankfurt. Wolfsburg will now be looking for a new coach for its first Champions League campaign since 2015-16. Frankfurt paid an undisclosed fee for Glasner, who had another year on his contract with Wolfsburg. The Austrian coach signed with Frankfurt through June 2024.

The Mexican government has condemned unauthorised building work being carried out at the ancient city of Teotihuacán, near Mexico City. The UN's international council on monuments and sites (Icomos) said bulldozers threatened to raze as many as seven acres at the protected site. Teotihuacán is a Unesco World Heritage Site and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country. UN officials raised the alarm about building work at the site on Monday.

Seven baby Tasmanian devils -- known as joeys -- were born at the 988-acre Barrington Wildlife Sanctuary in New South Wales, Australian NGO Aussie Ark said in an Instagram post on Monday. Tasmanian devils died out on the mainland after the arrival of dingoes -- a species of wild dog -- and were restricted to the island of Tasmania. However, their numbers suffered another blow from a contagious form of cancer known as Devil Facial Tumor Disease (DFTD), which has killed around 90% of the population since it was discovered in 1996.

A firefighting helicopter with four people on board crashed Tuesday near an airport in central Florida, killing at least one person, officials said. The helicopter crashed into a marsh near Leesburg International Airport during a training exercise around 4 p.m. ET, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a news release.

Chimpanzees clasp hands while grooming one another, and each group has its own distinct grip, which researchers say is similar to a 'secret handshake' in humans. The apes are known to be a cultural species, and the new study by University of Antwerp scientists focused on hand clasping in two different groups over 12 years. This is a peculiar social custom among the chimpanzee species which is linked to grooming, but only found in a relatively small number of chimp populations.

Heavy rain and a high tide lashed parts of eastern India and neighboring Bangladesh as a cyclone pushed ashore Wednesday in an area where more than 1.1 million people have evacuated during a devastating coronavirus surge. Cyclone Yaas already had caused two deaths and damaged homes as heavy rains pounded Odisha and West Bengal states before the storm began making landfall in the late morning.

Manchester United fans were the target of an attack at a bar in Gdansk on Tuesday night before Wednesday’s Europa League final against Villarreal, the Premier League club said. A statement from United said: “Club staff were assisting a number of United fans in Gdansk last night [Tuesday] and today after an incident where some of our supporters were attacked outside a bar in the city.” It is thought three United supporters suffered minor injuries. The club have an allocation of 2,000 tickets, with about 1,000 fans due to arrive in Gdansk on Wednesday.

A "lost library" of British literature, including rare handwritten poems by Emily Brontë and works by Robert Burns, is to be auctioned off at Sotheby's. The contents of the Honresfield Library, which has re-emerged after almost 100 years in obscurity, will go up for sale at three separate auctions. Emily's poems are expected to fetch somewhere between £800,000 and £1.2m. A first edition of her famous novel Wuthering Heights could fetch between £200,000 and £300,000.

From ancient sculptures to contemporary photographs, objects spanning 5,000 years of Iranian art, culture and design go on display at London's Victoria & Albert (V&A) museum this week in the first such major exhibition in Britain in 90 years. "Epic Iran", which opens to the public on Saturday, features more than 300 items from ancient, Islamic and contemporary Iran, including manuscripts, ceramics, carpets, textiles as well as photos, the museum said.

Uefa has opened disciplinary proceedings against Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid over their involvement in the proposed European Super League. The clubs were part of the 12 'founding' members of the breakaway league, which later collapsed. The other nine clubs renounced the project but Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid have refused to do so. Uefa said proceedings had been opened against the three "for a potential violation of Uefa's legal framework".

U.S. wrestling superstar and actor John Cena apologised to Chinese fans on Tuesday after calling Taiwan a country during an interview to promote his latest movie "Fast & Furious 9". Speaking to Taiwanese television TVBS earlier this month, 44-year-old Cena said Taiwan would be the first "country" to see the latest Fast and Furious. China regards Taiwan as its province, an assertion that most on the self-ruled, democratic island rejects.

Rain in some parts of central and southern China has hit record highs in recent weeks even though overall precipitation is about 10% lower this year compared with last year, according to the Ministry of Water Resources. Water levels on the Yangtze and its tributaries were expected to rise further over the next week, the ministry said, and it warned of major floods throughout the country from June to August.

A gold ring has been discovered in the grave of an Early Bronze Age woman in southwest Germany - and it was likely crafted in Cornwall. The stunning spiral ring was found in the district of Tubingen, and is believed to be the region's earliest gold object to date. Despite being over 840 miles away, an analysis suggests that the jewellery was crafted in Cornwall. During the excavation, near Ammerbuch-Reusten, the experts found that the woman was buried between about 1850 and 1700 BCE in the foetal position, facing south.

After 17 days of combing the Oregon wilderness, search and rescue teams found a missing 69-year-old man safe and sound. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office announced early Monday morning that Harry Burleigh was recuperating at an area hospital after rescuers airlifted him from the Twin Lakes area. Burleigh went fishing in the area on May 6 but didn't return home, according to investigators.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken pledged on a Middle East mission on Tuesday that Washington would rally support to rebuild Gaza as part of efforts to bolster a ceasefire between its Hamas Islamist rulers and Israel. Narine Gevorgyan works at the Armenian-Russian Slavonic University. She has been doing design since 2012, has had 7 solo exhibitions and is the author of 11 inventions. In 2016 she received the title of the RA People's Master of Decorative-Applied Arts.
