The discovery was made at the Ness of Brodgar archaeological site in Orkney where the print was spotted on a piece of a clay vessel believed to have been made by a potter many years ago. Special imaging technology known as Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI) was used to reveal the fingerprint left after the potter pressed a finger into wet clay. The fingerprint was found by ceramics specialist Roy Towers, who was examining a fragment of pottery from a collection of lots of different clay pieces that had been recovered from the site.

Experienced diver Jarid Norman, 38, was spear-fishing off the coast of Umdloti in the South African state of KwaZulu-Natal when the incident took place. Norman posted footage on social media of him removing a shark tooth from his head.
Turkmenistan marked a new holiday on Sunday dedicated to its national Alabai dog breed, to which its longtime leader has already erected a gilded monument and written an ode. The new holiday took place on the same day as a festival celebrating the Akhal-Teke horse breed, which Turkmenistan also considers part of its national heritage.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk will host Saturday Night Live's May 8 episode with Miley Cyrus as the musical guest. Musk's hosting gig is unique compared to the usual slate of actors and musicians who've hosted throughout the sketch comedy show's 46th season. This will be the Tesla CEO's first time hosting and Cyrus' sixth time as a musical guest. Cyrus has previously hosted in 2013 and 2015.

At least 82 people have been killed in a fire at a hospital treating coronavirus patients in the capital of Iraq, Baghdad. More than 100 others were injured in the blaze, which erupted at the Ibn Khatib hospital on Saturday night. Reports say an accident had caused an oxygen tank to explode, sparking the blaze.

Israel's Health Ministry said on Sunday it is examining a small number of cases of heart inflammation in people who had received Pfizer's (PFE.N) COVID-19 vaccine, though it has not yet drawn any conclusions. Pfizer said it has not observed a higher rate of the condition than would normally be expected in the general population. Preliminary study showed "tens of incidents" of myocarditis occurring among more than 5 million vaccinated people, primarily after the second dose. Most of the cases were reported among people up to age 30.

A missing Indonesian submarine has been found, broken into at least three parts, at the bottom of the Bali Sea, army and navy officials said on Sunday, as the president sent condolences to relatives of the 53 crew. Rescuers also found new objects, including a life vest, that they believe belong to those aboard the 44-year old KRI Nanggala-402, which lost contact on Wednesday as it prepared to conduct a torpedo drill.

Tiger Woods has posted a photo of himself smiling on a golf course - the first time he has been pictured since he was seriously injured in a car accident in February. The 15-time major champion underwent surgery on open fractures to his lower right leg and further injuries to his foot and ankle following the crash. Woods had a big smile on his face as he stood on the course next to his dog.

Mario Meoni died Friday in a traffic accident while returning from an official visit to the city of Rosario, the presidential press office said. He was 56. He was driving alone in his official vehicle during the accident, the press office added. In his final tweets on Friday, he talked about the visit with President Alberto Fernandez to the largest city of Santa Fe province, where they signed agreements on ports, rail services and other infrastructure investments.

Israel has recorded no new daily Covid-19 deaths for the first time in 10 months, as the country pushes ahead with its speedy vaccination drive. The country's coronavirus death toll remained unchanged at 6,346 on Thursday, health ministry data showed. The last time Israel reported zero Covid-19 deaths was at the end of June last year, after lockdown measures curbed a first wave of infections.

Singer Sia has been named "worst director" for her controversial debut film at the Razzies, the pre-Oscars prizes for the year's worst movies. Titled Music, her film won three Golden Raspberry Awards in total, including worst actress for Kate Hudson and worst supporting actress for Maddie Ziegler. The movie has been criticised for casting Ziegler in the autistic lead role and for its portrayal of autism.It was described as an "insensitive" and "ill-conceived" "autism musical".

The head writer and creator of Disney+ and Marvel's The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is developing a fourth installment of the Captain America film franchise for Marvel Studios. The attack took place in the secure entrance area of the police station in Rambouillet. The 49-year-old woman, an administrative assistant who was returning from a lunch break, was stabbed in the throat twice and died of her wounds shortly afterwards. The attacker was fatally wounded when an officer opened fire on him. The Tunisian assailant, 36, arrived in France illegally in 2009 but had since obtained residency papers, a police source said, adding that he was unknown to security services.
