Texas museum forced to take down Trump statue because everyone keeps punching it

A wax museum in Texas has removed its statue of former US president Donald Trump from display after it was repeatedly punched by visitors. Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks in San Antonio has now moved the Trump statue to a storage room.

Paul Pogba scored the only goal as Manchester United beat AC Milan to earn a place in Friday's Europa League quarter-final draw. The goal gave United a 2-1 aggregate lead after last week's draw at Old Trafford, and it proved enough to secure a place in Friday's quarter-final draw. After the game, former Red Devils midfielder Owen Hargreaves said Solskjaer's best option going forward might be to keep Pogba on the left and play Rashford to the right.

NASA to test rocket engines that could eventually send humans to the moon

Aerospace firms on Thursday credited NASA with a successful test of engines on a Boeing-built rocket for Artemis missions that aim to return U.S. astronauts to the moon by 2024, more than half a century since the last lunar walk.

Dozens of people in Taiwan have changed their names to "salmon" to take advantage of a restaurant's sushi promotion deal.

The offer began on Tuesday when sushi restaurant chain Akindo Sushiro said anyone with the Chinese characters in their name could get free food for themselves and five friends. Officials have issued a plea asking people to stop visiting government offices to request the name change. They said the rush was wasting government time.

Paris lockdown as France fears 'third wave'

The French capital Paris is set to go into a month-long Covid lockdown as the country fears a third wave. Another 15 regions in the country will also be placed under the same measures from Friday. These measures will not be as strict as the previous lockdown, Prime Minister Jean Castex said, with people allowed to exercise outdoors. France has recorded 35,000 new cases.

Spain approves euthanasia law

Spain approved a law permitting euthanasia on Thursday by a 202 to 141 vote in parliament, making it the fourth European Union country to do so. Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands already allow euthanasia under certain conditions.

Russia recalls ambassador to U.S., says Biden comments branding Putin a killer 'very bad'

In a television interview on Wednesday, Biden branded Putin a “killer” and said he would “pay a price” for 2020 election interference. Just hours later, Russia recalled its ambassador “for consultations” back in Moscow. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters Thursday that President Joe Biden’s comments were “very bad.”

'Unplayable' Bayern Munich cruises into record-breaking 19th Champions League quarterfinal

Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi called Bayern Munich "unplayable" after his side was comfortably beaten by the German powerhouse in the Champions League on Wednesday. The Italian side always faced an uphill battle after the reigning champion breezed to an emphatic 4-1 win in the first leg but Inzaghi was proud of his side's effort in the return fixture despite falling to a 2-1 defeat -- losing 6-2 on aggregate. No club has reached the quarterfinals of the competition more frequently than Bayern Munich, with the German team having now done it 19 times.

Tokyo Olympics creative head Hiroshi Sasaki resigns over derogatory remark

He has resigned after making a derogatory comment about a popular female Japanese entertainer, in the latest controversy over insensitive remarks towards women to hit Games organizers. Sasaki, who was the head creative director for the opening and closing ceremonies at this year's Games, said he had told a planning group through a group chat that Naomi Watanabe could play a role as an "Olympig."

Asian Americans were already worn down by a year of pandemic-fueled racist attacks when a white gunman was charged with attacking three Atlanta-area massage parlors and killing eight people, most of them Asian women. Unlikely allies Russia and US push Afghan enemies to accept interim government

Russia hosts a key summit on Thursday to revive the Afghan peace process, the first in a series of meetings that make unlikely allies of Washington and Moscow as they try to pave the way for an interim government in Kabul and end the bloodshed. The Moscow meeting will include U.S. special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad and representatives from Pakistan and China, according to officials.
