China says manufacturing 'greatness' still 30 years away

China is at least 30 years away from becoming a manufacturing nation of "great power", a government advisor told party delegates on Sunday. Many observers already see China as the "world's factory" given that more than a third of global output from cars to phones comes from there. But China's leaders are concerned about its heavy dependence on the US for high-tech products like semiconductors.

Turkey arrests man for beating ex-wife on street

The suspect was ordered to be detained by a court in the Black Sea province of Samsun on charges of "intentional attempted murder". The video, which went viral on social media, shows the man violently punching and kicking his 24-year-old ex-wife in front of their five-year-old child as residents called on him to stop.

Raya is the titular character of Raya and the Last Dragon, which sees her travel around the region to reunite its people and attempt to save the world in the process. South East Asia is a region that is home to 11 countries and 673 million people.

Huge explosions rock Equatorial Guinea's main city

At least 20 people have died and hundreds more have been injured in a series of explosions in Equatorial Guinea. Around 300 people were injured following the blasts, which happened near a military barracks in the main city of Bata on Sunday.

Manchester United ended Manchester City's 21-game winning streak with a brilliantly executed 2-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

A Bruno Fernandes goal and a rare strike from defender Luke Shaw were enough to hand Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side a confidence boosting win in the derby. Coming into the Premier League match, City hadn't lost in all competitions since November 21 and was facing a Untied side short of form based on recent performances.

Italian dictionary Treccani urged to change 'sexist' definition of 'woman'

About 100 high-profile figures have signed a letter to the Treccani Italian dictionary calling on it to change its definition of the word "woman". The campaign argues that derogatory terms such as "puttana" (whore) should be removed from the list of synonyms. Such words reinforce "misogynist stereotypes that objectify women and present them as inferior", it adds.

Senegal protests after opposition leader Ousmane Sonko arrested

Violent protests have hit Senegal for a third day as demonstrators burnt cars and clashed with police after the arrest of an opposition leader on Wednesday. Four people have died in the rare unrest, the interior minister said. Ousmane Sonko appeared in court on Friday accused of disrupting public order. He also faces a rape allegation. He denies the allegations and his supporters say the accusations are politically motivated.

The reason for that caution was twofold. The astronauts may have been exposed to harmful bacteria or other unknown elements. The mission was the first time humans had interacted with the surface of another celestial body. Doctors closely monitored the astronauts, while a separate team tested and studied the lunar rocks and dust brought back by the astronauts. There was also a desire to protect any potential life that may have been brought back from the moon in the lunar samples.
