Saudi defence firm SAMI targets $5 billion annual revenue by 2030

State-owned Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) aims to generate annual revenue of $5 billion by 2030, its chief executive said on Monday, part of a drive to build more defence equipment inside the kingdom.

UK aiming to vaccinate every adult by end of July, government says

That’s a month earlier than its previous target. It also wants everyone over the age of 50, or with an underlying health condition, to get a vaccine shot by April 15, rather than May 1. Pfizer and AstraZeneca, the two producers of the vaccines the UK is using, have experienced supply problems in Europe.

An Asian-American man suffers a severed finger after an unprovoked attack

A man on a bicycle approached Matthew Leung, who is Asian-American, at a bus stop in Rosemead, a suburb of Los Angeles, just after 1 p.m. They exchanged hellos, but about 10 minutes later, the man, unprovoked, attacked Leung, said May Cun, Leung's colleague at Gates Street Elementary School.

Animal cruelty cases are surging in freezing Texas

G7 leaders commit $7.5 billion to vaccine rollout in poor countries

Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) economic powers, who control a little under half of the world's economy, on Friday agreed to "intensify cooperation" in response to the coronavirus pandemic and increase funding commitments for the rollout of vaccines in the world's poorest countries to $7.5 billion.

Scientists announced the first successful cloning of a U.S. endangered species: a black-footed ferret.

The animal, named Elizabeth Ann, was born Dec. 10 and announced Thursday. Willa, the ferret who served as the genetic source for Elizabeth Ann, died in 1988 and remained frozen as cloning research was just getting underway.
