A car bomb exploded in Mogadishu outside the Somali parliament compound near the presidential palace on Saturday.

A car packed with explosives sped through a security checkpoint in front of the Wehliye Hotel popular with government officials, lawmakers and the city's elite, and detonated at the security checkpoint to the national assembly headquarters after being fired by police officers.
Several people died in the explosion, although police have not announced the exact number of casualties. Heavy gunfire was also heard following the morning rush-hour blast. It was the second major explosion in the Somali capital in recent weeks.

Clashes, blasts intensify across Afghanistan

At least four Afghan security force members, including a commander, were killed and seven were critically injured in blasts in eastern and southern provinces on Saturday, officials said, adding that three civilians were injured in the east. No militant group immediately claimed responsibility for the three attacks, which come amid an upsurge in violence in Afghanistan as clashes intensify between government forces and Taliban insurgents.

Desert ‘ghost town’ sees wedding boom during coronavirus pandemic

If you can’t have a huge wedding during the coronavirus pandemic, you might as well go the opposite direction and get married in an abandoned town. In fact, that’s what people in the Las Vegas area appear to be doing, according to a local wedding tour and photography business.  On Thursday, Scenic Las Vegas Weddings reported that Nelson’s Ghost Town -- which is about an hour outside of Las Vegas -- has seen a "huge increase" in weddings during the pandemic.

IMF's Georgieva says G7 in "full alignment" on stimulus, vaccines

International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said on Friday that G7 finance leaders were in “full alignment” on a range of issues from fiscal stimulus to aid for poor countries.
“Full alignment on access to vaccines, policy support until exit from the crisis, climate action, and comprehensive support for vulnerable countries,” Georgieva tweeted.

Pigs can play video games with their snouts, scientists find

Four pigs - Hamlet, Omelette, Ebony and Ivory - were trained to use an arcade-style joystick to steer an on-screen cursor into walls. Researchers from Worcestershire said the fact that the pigs understood the connection between the stick and the game "is no small feat". And the pigs even continued playing when the food reward dispenser broke - apparently for the social contact. Usually, the pigs would be given a food pellet for "winning" the game level. But during testing, it broke - and they kept clearing the game levels when encouraged by some of the researchers' kind words.

Producer Rafael Tadevosyan's team presented a film about the startup ecosystem of Armenia.

The film will be broadcasted on Netflix, which has registered a 300% increase in viewership in 2020 and has millions of viewers. The 10-12 part film will tell the story of four guys who grow a seemingly unrealistic idea into incredible success using the possibilities provided by artificial intelligence. It will present the stories of Armenian startups and successful companies in the field, which will allow to present the technological capabilities of Armenia to the world. The script has already been approved by Netflix producers and the shooting is expected to start in the near future.
