U.S. may extend tariff suspensions on $34 billion in Chinese goods

The USTR, the lead U.S. trade agency, said it would take comment on the proposed tariff suspension from Nov. 1 to Nov. 30. The USTR said in December 2018 that, at the request of U.S. importers, $34 billion in Chinese goods would be exempt from 25% tariffs first set in July of 2018.

Amazon could challenge loss of $10 billion Pentagon cloud deal as early as next week

In July, Trump said the administration was reviewing Amazon’s bid after complaints from other companies. Before then, Amazon was widely considered to be a front-runner. Trump has repeatedly taken swipes at Amazon and its founder Jeff Bezos, who owns the Washington Post.

Yahoo Japan rolls out 'deep-fried tax' for employees

Calling it a “deep-fried food tax,” the levy that started Tuesday is intended to encourage workers at the internet giant to eat more healthily. To that end, Yahoo Japan has raised the price of deep-fried dishes served at its Tokyo headquarters’ cafeteria by ¥100.
