Diego Maradona’s infamous “Hand of God” goal made footballing history and cemented the legendary status of the Argentinian superstar. Now the shirt he wore when he scored that goal in the 1986 World Cup championships is estimated to sell for at least £4m. Maradona’s number 10 shirt has been owned for the past 35 years by the former England midfielder Steve Hodge, after the two players swapped shirts at the end of the quarter-final between Argentina and England. Online bidding for the shirt will be open from 20 April until 4 May.

Ed Sheeran has won a High Court copyright battle over his 2017 hit Shape of You. A judge ruled on Wednesday that the singer-songwriter had not plagiarised the 2015 song Oh Why by Sami Chokri. Chokri, a grime artist who performs under the name Sami Switch, had claimed the "Oh I" hook in Sheeran's track was "strikingly similar" to an "Oh why" refrain in his own track. After the ruling, Sheeran said such "baseless" claims "are way too common".

The United States, Britain and Australia said Tuesday they would begin collaborating on hypersonic missile strike and defence capacity, as rivals Russia and China advance rapidly in the cutting-edge technology. The trio said they would work on hypersonics in an expansion of their recent AUKUS defence alliance, which is to equip Australia with nuclear-powered submarines to counter China's growing military clout.

Rydell died of complications from pneumonia at Jefferson Hospital on Tuesday, according to a statement posted by his marketing and event coordinator Maria Novey. Rydell, who credited a 2012 kidney and liver transplant with extending his life, was 79. Police in the Romanian capital say a car has crashed into the gate of the Russian Embassy, bursting into flames and killing the driver. Police in Bucharest say the sedan rammed into the gate at about 6 a.m. Wednesday but did not enter the embassy compound. There was no immediate information on a possible motive or other details.

Jon Batiste quietly married Suleika Jaouad, his longtime girlfriend, in February. She had been diagnosed with leukemia for the second time. "We got married the day before I was admitted to the hospital to undergo my bone marrow transplant," she told "CBS Sunday Morning." Jaouad continued: "We have known that we wanted to get married, I think, from the first week that we started dating. That's when Jon first brought up the topic of marriage to me. So, we've had eight years. This is not, you know, a hasty decision!" She added that her diagnosis wasn't actually a factor in the two tying the knot.

Mohamed Salah intends to sign a new deal at Liverpool, says Egypt sports minister Ashraf Sobhi. Sobhi said he advised Salah, 29, to leave Anfield, only for the Egypt forward to say he was likely to extend a contract that runs until June 2023. "I have advised him to continue his journey at a club other than Liverpool, but his direction now is to renew his contract," Sobhi said. Spotify's podcast fiction series about Batman alter-ego Bruce Wayne will debut around the world in May with local adaptations in nine countries including India, Brazil and Japan, the company said on Tuesday. Two members of a British family have died and two others are critically injured after a landslide while they were hiking on holiday in Australia. The man, 49, and his nine-year-old son were killed by falling rocks in the Blue Mountains near Sydney on Monday. A woman, 50, and her son, 14, were taken to hospital with serious head and abdominal injuries. Her daughter, 15, who is thought to have raised the alarm, has been treated for shock.

Experts took photos of 24,000 bird specimens held by Natural History Museum. They then used AI to analyse the colours of the birds down to each single pixel. Results showed birds from nearer the equator are 30 per cent more colourful than birds living nearer the poles.

Kuwait's government submitted its resignation on Tuesday, state news agency KUNA reported, ahead of a no-confidence vote against the prime minister in parliament, amid a lengthy political feud that has hindered fiscal reform in the Gulf oil producer. A train derailed after striking a vehicle in southern Hungary early Tuesday, leaving seven people dead and others injured. The accident occurred just before 7 a.m. in the town of Mindszent. Police said a van drove onto the train tracks and was struck by a train, which derailed from the force of the collision. Hungarian state railways indicated that all those killed had been traveling in the van. It said that 22 people were on the train at the time of the collision. Two people were seriously hurt and eight others suffered mild injuries.

Two "stolen" notebooks written by Charles Darwin have been mysteriously returned to Cambridge University, 22 years after they were last seen. The small leather-bound books are worth many millions of pounds and include the scientist's "tree of life" sketch. Their return comes 15 months after the BBC first highlighted they had gone missing and the library launched a worldwide appeal to find them.
