Armenian community of Czech Republic frustrates “tragedy commerce” by Azerbaijanis
Yesterday, on February 24, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Prague organized a unique “tragedy commerce.” A tent was raised at the corner of a square in Prague, with Azerbaijan’s flag, with food being distributed, and Azerbaijani souvenirs and carpets being sold. They were also advertising the sponsor restaurant. All this was represented as an action dated to the 20th anniversary of the Khojaly events.
The point is that the Azerbaijanis got permission from the Mayor’s Office of Prague to hold exclusively an advertising and commerce event, to put it simply, a trade fair, not a political action. The propaganda part of the event, widely advertised by Azerbaijani media, came to nothing more than a lazy distribution of booklets and flyers, telling the Azerbaijani version of the Khojaly events, with the action arousing no particular interest among the local population.
Unexpectedly for the organizers of the event, representatives of the Armenian community interfered. They began to distribute booklets and brochures not only among passerbies but also to the organizers of the event, telling the truth about the Khojaly events to the panicking Azerbaijani officials.
However, the misadventures of the organizers of the Azerbaijani event did not end by that. When the Ambassadors of Azerbaijan and Turkey came up to the tent to deliver speeches at about 17:00, they were interrupted by Krishnaists drowning completely the speech of the Azerbaijani Ambassador with their singing and musical instruments.
